This project was a blast. The assignment: to illustrate the feature article, which highlighted the campus’ Center for Innovation in Brain Science. The Center’s research focused on the study of women’s brains and how they are impacted by diseases like Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and ALS. My first concept was a sort of associative map of the brain. That sketch was approved, but then I kept envisioning the shape of a women surrounded by words. I made another sketch and that became the final. I used the visual map idea for the interior illustration, as a playful way to show science and the brain.
