This past Wednesday at midnight, I finished up work on 20x30-foot mural for LAND Studio's InterUrban project, a public art initiative to beautify Cleveland. During the first week of June, nineteen artists descended on the Forest City to paint murals all along the RTA's Red Line. LAND partnered with the Anisfield-Wolf awards, the Cleveland Foundation, the RTA, and coordinated with a few muralists from Powwow Worldwide to create this incredible public art project. Every artist was assigned a text by an Anisfield-Wolf panel, and we were tasked with responding to the text in our murals. My text was an excerpt from Martha Collins' White Pages. I will write a post in the very near future describing my concept and process, but I wanted to share the piece here. The project was a total thrill and I'm honored to be a part of it.
