The Illustration & Miscellany of

Design Do Over

Last week, I announced a new project to help benefit the Gulf Coast Disaster. A few hours later, I received an email from my brother telling me – drumroll – “You can do better than that.” He was right and so I revisited the illustration, did some more research on Louisiana’s state bird and embarked on a design/illustration Do Over (like Robin Hemley’s book):

Also, I just got word from the Giclee Factory that they are willing to reduce the cost for production of the prints, so the donation margin can increase to about $6.55 per print. Thank you, GF! To recap, this is 75% of the profits of the print, and this money will be donated to the National Wildlife Federation, who is currently working hard to clean up our oceans, marshlands, beaches and creatures.

These drawings will be printed on 12 x 12″ textured paper (archival, as are the inks) and they can come in any of the colors above. If you have other colors in mind, email me. The first print is still available, too, and more of these map/illustrations are in the works.

  1. Hi Margaret,

I think what you are doing is great. BP has really hurt the environment (even though as they say…”the ocean is big”…idiots) and it is nice to see that all of us can do something.

The illustration is great, definitely fun and informative. I hope you sell a ton of these. Congrats! And keep up the awesome work.
