Author David Shields just appeared on the Colbert Report, discussing his new book, Reality Hunger. I haven’t read the book yet but will soon. There is a review in the New York Times. The book is perhaps bravely called a manifesto (!) and questions the form of the novel while discussing the rise of the essay and a newly emerging creative movement involving appropriation/autobiography/self-reflexivity. Can’t wait to read it.
